Rummy (also known as Indian rummy, 13-card rummy or paplu) is a matching-card game of skill where 2 to 6 players are dealt 13 cards each. Players draw one card and discard one card on every turn to form valid sequences (consecutive cards of the same suit) and sets (same-rank cards of different suits). The first player to build a valid 13-card declaration with at least two sequences — including one pure sequence — wins the deal.
Courts across India recognise rummy as a game of skill, which is why online rummy is played by millions for points-based entertainment. Our guides cover everything a beginner needs: from points rummy formats to rummy winning tricks for intermediate players.
2–6 players get 13 cards each; one wild joker is drawn face-up for the game.
Pick a card from closed or open deck, discard one into the open pile each turn.
Group cards into sequences & sets — e.g. 4♠5♠6♠7♠ or 9♣9♦9♥.
Complete 2 sequences (1 pure) + a set and hit Declare before rivals do.
